Things to do in Doha during the Summer

Last Updated on by Admin

I don’t know about you, but I naturally get slow in the summer. The heat sometimes feels unbearable and the urge to leave an air-conditioned room rarely crosses my mind.

However, last summer I decided to make the most of it, I thought to myself “Summer makes up around half of the year, do I really want to spend it all inside?” Now I want you to ask yourself this question. Got your answer? Good.

Looking to beat the heat and have fun in the sun? This article will give you the top activities in Doha to try out this summer, guaranteed to cool your soul from within. When body temperature is high, your morale must not be low, forget the indoor activities, and let’s head out!

Water Sports

Where are my surfer dudes? One of the first that crosses one’s mind when thinking of summer activities is water sports. For me, it’s always been swimming in a pool full of kids, mothers running around, someone kicking me in the shoulder, and the whole thing being an unpleasant experience instead of a relaxing one.

However, for you, dear readers, we bring the best water activities, safe from any kicks to the shoulder:

What makes kayaking an excellent summer activity? On a scorching summer day, there’s nothing quite like feeling the cool water lapping at your feet (or maybe even taking a refreshing dip!). Kayaking lets you enjoy the water without getting completely soaked, it’s truly one of the best summer activities in Doha.

Kayaking is a relatively easy activity to learn, making it accessible to people of all ages and abilities. You don’t need years of experience to have a blast paddling around on a calm lake

Now, where to Kayak in Doha? We’ve got you covered there as well!

Kayaking at the Pearl

Doha’s summer heat can’t dim the cool vibes at The Pearl. Glide across the turquoise waters of Porto Arabia and the sparkling Doha skyline as your backdrop. Kayaking at The Pearl isn’t just exercise, it’s an adventure for your senses!

What makes kayaking a great watersport? Kayaking is simple and allows you to set your own pace, and unlike some water activities, kayaking lets you set your own pace. You can enjoy a leisurely paddle, taking in the scenery and wildlife, or get a bit of a workout with a more vigorous journey.

Kayaking through the Al Mafjar Mangroves

Are you a desert safari enthusiast? Don’t worry because we bring you a nature safari at Qatar’s lush Al Thakira Mangrove forests, where you can kayak and discover a hidden oasis teeming with life.

Paddle your way through emerald green canals, the cool water a welcome escape from the summer heat. Sunlight filters through the canopy, creating a dappled wonderland teeming with exotic birds. Spot vibrant flamingos (if you visit around April/May) or playful crabs scuttling on the mudflats.

As I mentioned before, this isn’t just a kayak trip, it’s a nature safari! It is an opportunity to learn about the unique mangrove ecosystem and its vital role in Qatar’s environment.

Still feel like the daytime heat will be too much? Opt for a sunset or night kayak for an extra dose of magic under a blanket of stars.

Ditch the heat, explore hidden wonders, and experience the thrill of Kayaking through the Al Mafjar mangroves. This summer adventure is the perfect way to cool down and reconnect with nature.

Mangroves Kayaking

Kayaking is a great activity to do with friends, family, or even a significant other. It’s a fun way to spend quality time together while enjoying the outdoors.

There’s something incredibly calming about paddling across the water. It’s a great water activity to de-stress, clear your head, and simply enjoy the moment and take the heat of the day out of you.

Paddling at MIA Park

This summer, trade the heat for a cool kayaking adventure at MIA Park. The crystal-clear water and the Doha skyline shimmering in the sunshine sounds like a perfect summer treat.

Not a kayaking enthusiast? Fret not, we have another refreshing and scenic activity – pedal-powered stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) at MIA Park.

Unlike traditional SUP where you paddle with your arms, a pedalboard uses your legs for propulsion, freeing you up to soak in the stunning views of Doha’s skyline and MIA Park’s greenery. It feels like a cycling experience but on the water instead!

This unique perspective is perfect for capturing photos while enjoying a cool and relaxing outing on the calm waters. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned water adventurer, MIA Park’s pedal-powered SUP is a fantastic way to stay active and cool during the hot summer months.

Wakeboarding isn’t just a sport, it’s a summer party on a board! Shred some waves, grab some air, and feel the rush of adrenaline as you conquer the cable tow.

The Pearl’s pristine water and prime location make it the perfect place to unleash your inner wakesurfer.

Rent a Jet Ski:

Crank up the summer fun with a Jet Ski Adventure at InterContinental Doha Beach and Spa! Blast across the stunning coastline, feeling the wind whip through your hair and the spray cool you down.

Jet Ski

I don’t know about you but put me on a Jet Ski, and in my head, I will be in a Mission Impossible chase scene.

Imagine zooming past sleek yachts and catching epic Doha skyline views. It’s the ultimate way to trade that poolside nap for an adrenaline-pumping thrill. Just how cool would you look!

Outdoor Activities That Won’t Give You a Heat Stroke

For someone who loves sightseeing, summer really brings me down. Most places indoors are air-conditioned and thank God for that, however, with fewer places outdoors being air-conditioned and the scorching sun ruining all the vibes.

summer vibes

Luckily, that is not the case with Doha at all, because below we’ll be listing some outdoor places that are air-conditioned! Yes, outdoor air-conditioning, we love to see it.

Let’s start with parks. Now you might be thinking, why would a park need air-conditioning? Well, maybe you haven’t been outside during June/July and then you would feel like your front lawn should be air-conditioned too.
