Day 01

Your journey begins with a morning visit to the abandoned village of Birkat Al Mauz, once adorned with flourishing banana plantations. The well-preserved structures offer a window into the lives of Omani villagers of yesteryears. A walk through the village reveals the intricate Falaj irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage site that narrates centuries of history. Next, we enter the lavish Jabreen Castle, an exquisite example of a bygone era’s opulence. We then head to Wadi Al Nakhr, popularly known as the Grand Canyon of Oman. Ascend from the canyon’s base to its zenith, encountering the picturesque Misfat al Abriyyin village along the ascent. This ancient village, perched at a lofty altitude, offers panoramic vistas and houses built atop solid rock foundations.

Journey onward to Wakan Village in Wadi Ghul, celebrated for its breathtaking terrace farming. Admire the vibrant green terraces nurtured by the revered Falaj system, an esteemed UNESCO World Heritage site. Venture to Jebel Shams, the pinnacle of the Jebel Akhdar range, to peer into the awe-inspiring depths of Wadi Nakhr.

In Nizwa, immerse yourself in history at the iconic Nizwa Fort, a marvel of architecture. Delight in the circular main tower, a striking symbol of the past’s architectural brilliance. Navigate the bustling Nizwa Souk, where treasures like intricately carved khanjars and silver jewelry await. Fridays come alive with the vibrant cattle auction, a cultural spectacle. As the day draws to a close, retreat to the comfort of the Falaj Daris Hotel.

Day 02

Set out early in the morning, for an exciting journey across the Omani countryside. Covering nearly 300km, this tour treats you to captivating vistas that showcase the essence of Oman. As we venture onward, the tranquil symphony of wind serenades us, and the vast desert stretches ahead. Our destination is the enchanting sands dunes, nestled within the Al Sharqiya Sands, known as the Wahiba Sands or Ramlat al Wahiba. Here, the Omani desert stands in its full splendor, with undulating red and white sands forming dunes that reach heights of up to 200m. These ever-shifting patterns, sculpted by the sweeping winds, create a mesmerizing landscape that captivates the soul.

Despite the harshness of the terrain and its sparse flora and fauna, this land was once home to the Bani Wahiba tribe, giving the sands their name. Today, only a handful of Bedouin houses remain amidst this wilderness, offering a glimpse into a resilient way of life. The option of lunch awaits at Al Sharqiyah Sands hotel, or you can choose to make your own arrangements. Our journey continues to the breathtaking Wadi Bani Khalid, also known as Wadi Hayer or Wadi Hawer. This desert oasis, nestled amidst towering rock valleys, boasts lush date palm trees and a network of pools. It’s a paradise within the arid expanse, where clear sparkling waters and even a waterfall grace the landscape. Exploring Wadi Bani Khalid reveals its extensive expanse, spanning several villages within these rocky hills. The wadi’s pools offer a serene haven, while hidden caves add a touch of mystery. Our adventure concludes in the seafaring town of Sur, where we will find rest for the night at the Sur Plaza Hotel.

Day 03

Rise to the gentle melodies of the sea and embrace a leisurely breakfast, preparing for an exciting day of exploration in the city. Our journey begins with a visit to the dhow factory in Sur, where the intricate craft of making local fishing boats, known as Dhows, comes to life. Following this, we’ll head to the heart of the town, veering off the main road to encounter the Sineslah fort—an ancient square fortress adorned with round watchtowers, standing for over three centuries. Next, we set a course along the highway toward Muscat. The road leads us to a detour, revealing a hilltop haven enveloped by palm trees—the remnants of the ancient town of Qalhat. Amidst these ruins lies Bibi Miriam’s tomb. With a glimpse into this once-grand city, we continue our journey along the coast, soaking in the scenic vistas, and embracing the gradual path toward Muscat, allowing for exploration of hidden gems along the way. The coastal road might even unveil sightings of sharks in the azure waters or the graceful sprint of Gazelles across the landscape. Our first pause is at the enchanting Fins beach—an unspoiled paradise characterized by its ivory sands, cerulean waters, and the harmonious presence of diverse avian life.

Following a leisurely swim, we proceed to the awe-inspiring Bimah Sinkhole, an extraordinary natural phenomenon known as Bait al-Afreet. Nestled within Hawiyat Najm Park, this massive limestone crater cradles pristine blue-green waters at its depths.

Our adventure takes a thrilling twist as we navigate through the magnificent mountains to reach Wadi Arbayeen, nestled in Oman’s Al Sharqiyah region. The wadi beckons with its rugged façade, enveloped by date trees and punctuated by myriad lakes, waterfalls, and serene pools. An enchanting visit to Hail Al Ghaf’s mango plantations enriches our journey, leading us toward Muscat. Our penultimate stop is Quriyat, a picturesque fishing town where exploration intertwines with history at the four-century-old Quriyat fort and the bustling Fish Souk. The market buzzes with the rhythm of daily life as diverse fish varieties exchange hands for both local consumption and global export. Our route follows the picturesque waterfront, providing glimpses of flamingoes, eagles, and other avian inhabitants.

From here, the road winds through the Eastern Hajjar range, offering a scenic drive back to Muscat. Upon arrival in Muscat, you can check in to your preferred hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable day.
